The traffic on the North Fork, mostly East Marion with back ups to Chapel Lane, over this past weekend was a first. Over the last several years, we have seen the Lavender Farm in East Marion growing wildly. The draw to this oasis of purple has brought crowds we haven’t seen in years to this one venue.
The main interests seem to be to Asians and Asian Americans who see the flowers standing for romance. A Chinese movie called ‘Lavender,’ came out in about 2001. It was a love story that took place in Provence. Apparently its like a Romeo and Juliet Story, where the guy died in the lavender field, very romantic — that’s why they’re very attracted to the lavender, and they take pictures in the field.
What ever you think, its undeniable the fields are beautiful. So if you are in the area, stop by for a glimpse, maybe just do it during the week.
