As long as I can remember, fall on the North Fork meant Peconic Bay Scallops. Our Baymen would gear up and head out to the bay to find these treasures. The local scallop opening shops were ready for the bushels of scallops the Baymen would bring in. A time honored tradition on the North Fork continues Today. Scallop Season 2017
One of my memories as a kid, when it was scallop season, was to head to Hallocks bay with my father and brother and catch enough for dinner. We would sit on the beach and open them. We would even eat a few raw. Oh so Sweet.. So watch for the boats out in the bay and support our local baymen.
